The 3D Hatchery (“we”, “us”) processes personal information in accordance with the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA). This policy explains what we collect, why, and how you can exercise your rights.

1. What we collect

Contact details: name, email, phone number.
Delivery and billing addresses, entered at checkout or with a custom quote.
Order history and custom quote requests, including any files you upload (e.g. STL/OBJ/3MF designs).
Payment confirmation data from Yoco (we never receive or store your card number).
Account credentials, if you create an account (your password is stored as a salted hash, never in plain text).

2. Why we collect it

To process and fulfil your orders and custom quote requests.
To arrange delivery via our shipping partner, Bob Go.
To send order and quote status emails.
To respond to support queries.
Where legally required, for tax and accounting records.

3. Who we share it with

We share only what's needed to fulfil your order, with:

Yoco, our payment processor, to process payment.
Bob Go and their courier partners, to deliver your order.
Resend, our email provider, to send transactional emails (order and quote notifications).

We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

4. How long we keep it

We retain order and quote records for as long as needed for tax, accounting, and warranty purposes, and to maintain your order history if you have an account. Uploaded design files are kept for the life of the associated quote unless you ask us to delete them sooner.

5. Your rights under POPIA

You may ask us to:

Confirm what personal information we hold about you.
Correct inaccurate information.
Delete information we no longer have a lawful basis to keep.
Object to processing in certain circumstances.

6. Security

We use industry-standard measures (encrypted connections, hashed passwords, and PCI-compliant payment processing via Yoco) to protect your information. No system is perfectly secure, and we'll notify affected users if we become aware of a breach that risks your rights, as required by POPIA.
